Reports From The Field: Fall 2022

Harvest time is here again and some of our Seed Specialists reported on what they’re seeing in the fields.

Indiana

In my territory, farmers are just getting started. Most haven’t been in the corn yet, but their soybean yields have been impressive so far! All wheat acres are in, and most cover crops are planted, in one of the driest Octobers in history. – Mark Borden, Seed Specialist

Ohio

As we turn the calendar to October, harvest has finally arrived here in Ohio for most parts of the state. Some have been delayed by crops not being ready due to later plantings this spring or by hit and miss showers around the state, while others are slowly getting started. For the most part, weather has been cooperating around the region which has allowed for some wheat planting of acres after early beans have been cut. A cold front will move in with rain showers this week to slow things a bit but for the most part farmers are getting things off here in the fall of 2022. Early numbers sound pretty good with beans being better than guys thought while corn is running about normal for the weather we have gotten. Tennessee

We’ve participated in Jay Moser’s University of Tennessee test plot for the last several years. 11 companies took part in this test plot this year, with almost 30 corn varieties. When the plot was harvested on September 23^rd, 3 of our varieties placed in the top 10, with FC 8503 RR coming in at 3rd place! – Steve Miller, Seed Specialist
